head cannons. I will never get enough of them. :)
11. Sirius did not think twice about Apparating to the Potters after he had been kicked out.

It had been raining as he had stormed out of Grimmauld Place, his parents cursing at him as he crossed the gate. Regulus had stared at him from the living room windows, his eyes silently begging his older brother to turn back. Sirius had turned away, closed his eyes and disappeared with a crack.

He ended up at the doorstep of the Potter household, drenched and afraid. It was Harold Potter, James’ father, that had opened the door, took one look at the young man he had already considered his second son and brought him in without any doubts or questions. It was Marina Potter who had wrapped a dry towel around him, embraced him the way his own mother never did and whispered words of comfort that had eased his shaking form. And it was James who had grinned at him sympathetically, told him that the guest room had always only be used by him anyways and had put a Silencing Charm on him with Harold’s wand when Sirius had started objecting.

For the first time in sixteen years, Sirius felt comfortable sleeping in a room that wasn’t in the Gryffindor dormitory. And when he awoke the next morning, finding himself engulfed in Marina’s tight hug and feeling a comforting pat on his shoulder fron Harold, he could not help but smile at James appreciatively for being such a good friend, a fantastic brother. He could finally say that he knew what it felt like to have a family that cared and loved him.

And not for the first time, he felt grateful for James. Of course, his appreciation only intensified when James decided that sending his parents Howlers was a good idea.

I’m sorry, future children, but you’ll have to love Harry Potter if you want to have dinner.
